Amhairghin (“Avar-gin”) the mythological hero who invented song and music was believed by the old Irish to be buried under the great mound at Millmount. No doubt he will be delighted at the feast of Irish music, song and dance in this ancient hill-fortress overlooking the river Boyne.

There will be continuous performances and workshops in 5 venues on the site, including a non-stop concert in the Marquee on Millmount Square with Cork legend, Jimmy Crowley, the Band of Uilleann Pipers, local super-groups KERN and EITLEÁN, The Finland Expedition, and Drogheda Comhaltas.

Come along and have a go at set-dancing, sean-nós dancing, traditional singing, bodhrán and bones, or whistle-playing (whistle supplied for €2!) or try your hand out at a range of traditional crafts. Workshops in Uilleann Pipes, Louth Songs, Celtic guitar, Concertina and the mysterious Hammer Dulcimer.Street theatre, Celtic Warriors, cannon-firing, craft tents and food.

Have a meal in the newly-opened Tower Restaurant with stunning views of the town.

Millmount’s famous craft shops and Drogheda Museum and Tower free all day. Cannons fired at 2pm, 3.30pm and 5pm.
